Peter Johnston, Architect, PC [PJA] is a full service architecture and interior design firm with a diverse practice, including hospitality, residential, educational and technology projects.
The firm has a strong reputation for producing fully integrated projects, from initial concept to selection of materials. We are committed to design innovation with an edge and delivering maximum project value to our clients.
Our goal is to design engaging spaces that promote social interaction, engage the mind and touch the soul. We aim to use color, scale, pattern, materials and light to create poetic environments.
We are client advocates and offer a fresh, cost-conscious approach to each design challenge. By providing each client individualized solutions, we aim to deliver and expand upon each project’s full potential, in terms of both function and design.
Sustainable strategies are a cornerstone of our business, and are explored in all of our projects in an effort to protect the environment and improve the human experience.
Peter Johnston, RA is the principal of the firm, and the creative engine behind all of its successes. He strives to enliven each and every project with color, materiality and geometric interest. He is passionate about sustainable initiatives, and pushes to incorporate not only the bold strokes, but the subtle nods that often make the most impact.
Peter is intimately involved with each project, overseeing all phases of the design and execution; he believes in the power of design, and the power of design professionals to act as client advocates.
Peter Johnston is an assistant adjunct professor in FIT’s Interior Design department, where he teaches upper level design studio. He received his Masters of Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UCLA.
Sustainability is a word that is mentioned early and often in the studio.
It is not a buzzword to us.
It is our promise to our clients and ourselves. It is a way of being, of thinking, and of designing. Whether on the grand scale, including building systems like passive natural ventilation and daylighting, graywater collection and solar power generation, or on the smaller scale through ‘green’ finishes and furnishings, we strive to make sustainable solutions a cornerstone of our work
It is our goal to educate and guide clients along the path to a more sustainable finished product. No matter the scope, there is always a more sustainable choice to be made. We strive to balance each and every one of these choices, considering their cost, their effectiveness and potential benefits.
